Can you recommend a shop in NC (preferebly SE) that can do external engine work on a '67 427? Probably the carb and the distributor need to be rebuilt and tweaked. I know there is a shop down by charleston that specializes in newer vettes and Cannon in New Bern (although I don't know if they do engine work).

There's a guy in Southport and one in Wilimington. I don't know either of them but week after next is the Broadway at the Beach show and I'll get his information then.. You should ride down since you're just in Wilimington... Dave..

Dave.. was planning on goinbg but have to go out of town for a wedding. I'd appreciate any info you could find. It would be great to have someone in Wilmington or Southport.

I contacted the myrtle beach corvette club and they were nice enough to recommend Legacy Automotive in Sunset Beach. "Steve, we have a club member who works on our cars. He has worked on my car (1989 coupe), and I have recommended him to others and they all were very happy with the price and quality of his work. He is an X-GM Corvette mechanic. His name is DJ Duvan, his shop is located in Surfside Beach, SC, LEGACY Automotive. 843-477-1613"
DAve, have you heard of him?

Williams' never done any work for me but they've been around for a long time. BTW, Sumter's nowhere near as fun as SC's Grand Strand ... it's about 70-80 miles inland from Myrtle Beach ...between MB & Columbia via US Hwy 378. Large USAF base (Shaw) is in Sumter ... not much else.

Rick has done several cars for me with the last being a 1969 L88 that went on to Bloomington Gold Hall of Fame (2004) and NCRS Duntov with a score of 98.6.
He will be moving his shop to Shallotte in the next few weeks and out of commission for a few weeks as he sets up.

I have known him for 20 years and know him to be one of the most honest and talented Corvette restorers in the country. My 69 L89 roadster is slated to be restored by him. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

I lived in Wilmington while I was in college. I had my Firebird Formula's fuel injectors bench tested and cleaned at this place. Fast service, really smart guys too.

My family lives in Greensboro. My dad and I have taken our Vettes (1978 and 1982) to this guy in the Piedmont for 15 years-

I got a lot of help from this guy too. Mostly interchange stuff on a TPI swap- but I know does a lot of work on C3s and C4s.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Mark and Darkshark.

Darkshark- It may be that Carolina Carb Spec may be able to help me if it is just a carb or distributor problem. They are certainly the closest. Do you know if they do general engine work and would you trust them on a mint '67 427 which you love?

Mark-
I'm definetly going to hook up with Rick. I'd be thrilled to have a local, knowledgeable source for my Vette. I send you an E-mail seperatley, but do you know if he is up for repair wok in addition to full restorations.?

I got someone in Jacksonville if that will work for you.

Dave-

Spoke to Rick Osburn, the guy mark suggested in Southport. Seems like a great resource other than he is out of commission for the summer moving his shop. I'm going to hook up with him do go over the car and do some restoration work for me when he is back up. In the interim, I am still looking for someone to help me with my carb/distributor problem. I would appreciate it if you let me know if you run across anyone in Wilmington when you are dowmn in Myrtle next week. Thanks.

I will do man.. Sorry you're not going to make it down there as it's been a great show the last couple of years... I just hope it's not so stinkin hot this year.... Dave..

I'm glad you spoke with Rick. You will be very satisfied with anything he does for you.

Dave is correct about the Myrtle Beach show. Nice people and they work hard to put on a good show. A car that Rick did won Best of Show and Best in Class a couple of years ago there. Best of all, it was mine.:D

Mark
