Are there any good guides to help in pricing these cars? I think I have a 'feel' for what they are worth, but it is easier to talk someone down in price if you can show them, in print, that their price is too high.

Also, on a a mostly-unrelated note, am I correct that sidepipes were not a factory option for 1973?

Joe, look at the specifications tab here for more details on options for each year.

Value wise, as you know it is up to what you are willing to pay and they are willing to accept. I still think we are very much in a buyers market.

A book is just a guide, but the actual condition of the car will dictate your purchase decision. Remember, no matter how good the price is, if the body frame is rusted out, or the main frame is rusted out, the car could become more of a liability than a pleasure to have around your house. Just search some threads here and you will see what I am talking about.

Rob has put some great info on the site for considering the purchase of a Corvette. Go through the knowldege base blue tab at the top, then check out the Learning Center for more info.

Joe,
My fav price guide is the one in Cars&Parts Corvette magazine. They publish an update about everyother issue.

But remember, it is just a price guide. It only provides a point of compairsum.

The only year shark that had side pipes as an option was '69. So they were not available in 73 as a factory option.

For more info on the '73, check out my web site below, The '73 Spot.

Joe:

VetteFinders.com publishes a price guide that is based on actual Corvette sales figures from the previous year.

Bob Kroupa, contributing author for Corvette Fever magazine and publisher of the Vette-N-Vestments monthly market guide, compiles the numbers and prices of each car sold at the major auctions and sales throughout the country. Last year's results are based on the pricing of over 12,000 Corvettes. From that, we can give a fairly accurate Low, High and Average Price.

Like most guides, the VetteFinders.com listings do not take into account rare, limited production options like L88 motors which would skew the pricing data.

Hope this info is helpful.

Sincerely,

Keith Cornett

Thanks for the tips, guys.

Tom: I've been reading your website for the past couple days. The old articles are very interesting (especially when they say that a mid-engine Corvette will definitely be available by 1975 :) ).

Almost happened, but Smog and more & more & more Federal Regulations got in the way.
