Was it the 80,81 or 82 (California) Vette that came with the 305ci V8? What was the hp rating of that engine? What did it run in the 1/4 miles stock?

1980

The '80 Calif Vette had the 305 ci engine. It was rated at 180 hp. The base L48 was rated at 190 hp so the 305 was only down 10 hp. The 5th digit in the VIN would be an "H" if the car originaly came with the 305.

tom....

It was the 1980 California Corvette only that came with the 305 Cubic Inch engine. The H.P. rating was 180 net hp.

California Corvettes were the first to be computer controled.

Horsepower- 190 (L-48), 230 (L-82) 180 (California)

Torque lbs-ft- 280 (L48) 275 (L82) 255 (California)

Corvettes sold in California could only be had with a 305 and automatic.

1/4 times ?

BTW. you can find anything on the internet. Just do a search on any of the search engines. Google, msn, yahoo

1980 was the only year for the 305 (LG4). The 350 couldn't make it past California smog standards, so 3,221 of the 305's came out in 1980 with automatics. It was rated at 180HP. Have never run mine through the traps so don't have a 1/4 mile ET for you ... but it would be real close to the L81.

Most purists and HP jockeys consider it to be a leper, but mine runs fine.

Hah!!

You wish DoG!!! We'll just have to give that a go next time. I'll bet Bub's got something to say about that too!!!

.............. Nut

I have a 82 LG-4 trans am & it was only rated at 145hp, what made the vettes engine have so much more power, and yes if you were wondering it lacks the ability to spin it's tires on glare ice, and no hard feelings if you laugh at this awsome horsepower

I had two 1984 camaro Z28's. The first one I had had the H.O. L69 305 with 190HP with a five speed. It had the same camshaft as the L82 350 Vette engine. My last Z28 had the LG4 305 but was rated at 150 H.P. The LG4 in the camaro's had 170 H.P. by 1987 when all carb engines were stoped.

My LG4 Z28 did the 1/4 miles in 16.6@82 MPH and that was bone stock with flowmaster exhaust and it had the 700R4 auto trans

Hiya Jason (92 BlackRose). It's nice to see someone else from the Houston area in the forums. How's the 'ol city doing?
