Hey guys...I've been lurking in the shadows for a month or two and I finaly registered.

I am looking into buying a new car in the summer. I have narrowed it down to two choices: 2002 F-body, or a 1997-1999 Vette.

Let me start of by saying: there is obviously no real compitition. I know that the Vette is a better car (a Z06 is my DREAM).

My question is this...I only have about 40-45k (Canadian :cool) to spend. Which would be a smarter purchase? Could I get a away with the Vette with out too much in the way of maintenance costs? Is it incredibly more to repair a C5 than an F-body?

No Question, find a low mileage 2000 coup still in warrantee, then go to fitchner chevrolet and get an extended warrantee if you are worried. Or find an older 97+ that already has a transferable extended warrantee. I would recogmend the GM warrantee.

I agree. To many cumputers, battery leak issues, and all kind of code sets to not have an extended warrenty. Don't let maintance scare you though. This is the greatest american sports car to own. I.M.H.O.

I would go for the Vette. Driving one is a dream and like driving no other car. Just get an extended warranty if you are worried.
