Does anyone know the approximate ballpark cost of building up say a 72 stingray? I want to start the project with my dad, over say the next two years, to culminate to racing in the Cannonball One Lap of America. I figured start with a decent model and go from there. Any suggestions on models and the such are also welcome, as are any other ideas. Thanks in advance!

Eventhelosers05,

I can understand why alot of people have avoided this question.

I myself dont like being reminded of how much it has cost me so far to tweek the sleeper.

Honestly with a really, really good base car you can probably expect to spend 2-5k easy.

With a car that needs loving or modifications beyond "normal" modifications 5-20k would be realistic.

It also depends on "what kind of a project" or where you want to start at.

If you are looking for suspension upgrades/rebuilds etc considering your goal you are looking at $5K easy.

Engine depending on what you want around $3K (crate engines)

Maybe another $1-2K for Misc. stuff.

Order some Vette catalogs Ecklers , or Zip and also grab a couple of performance catalogs like Summit or Jegs .

Then go through and see what you'd like done to the car, add all the prices up, and then multiply by 2. Depending on how good you are at determining what you need, that should give you a generous idea of how much it'll end up costing you.
