Dear Bodymen,
Someone must have kicked my car when I wasn't looking or something, a two and a half inch crack right through the bumper cover under the right rear edge of the driver side approach/turn signal light. I see an almost undetectable scuff right under it. My body man says someone hit me - with something. I thought I hit a parking lot bumper too hard, and it strained the cover, and it had to give somewhere.
My bodyman is the best, but I just paid $400 for a lower left fender, rocker panel repair. Seriously, I discovered the new crack on my first wash after getting the car back from the body shop! The quote for this new bumper repair $750.00!
This is a tight, unchipped, crack, a little jagged but not too much so. I'm thinking I can "epoxy" this one, but I have not done this before, and I would hate to screw up my car.
What repair kit is the one? Is there a way to mask the painted surface so as to protect the outside paint like a grease, or "micro mask" but also be able to see the nose to make sure you are getting out all of the crack as the glue cures?
Thanks!
