OK, I cracked mine at the thin point while I was removing the radio. (or maybe I should think it was like that and I never noticed it before just to make myself feel better..)
Is there a way to get these repaired/reconditioned?

Get a fresh $100 bill ready, because you are going to need a new one!

I have seen people try to epoxy and JB weld them, but any stress or pressure at all and it will snap again.

I agree, the best thing to do is buy a new one.I have seen some on ebay for $85.I know this because Ive also been looking for one.:beer

I'm fortunate enough to have a corvette only salvage yard about 50 miles north of me...I'm thinking I might try them first when the weather gets nice...

I remember being told that the bezels break at the "thin" area because of deliberate design. Supposedly had something to do with safety in a front end crash. Myth or reality? I'm not sure.

I do know that they're near impossible to repair, and unless you have a 68, you can buy a new one for about $100.00. The continuitiy of the bezel is important, because at least in the earlier chrome bumper sharks, the wiper switch had to be grounded to work. The switch is grounded through the bezel, and if the bezel is cracked, the ground continuity was broken, thus the wipers would not work. Chuck

Well, I ended up buying a new one at tld-corvette.com for $85. The best deal I seen for a new replacement. Haven't gone to the salvage yard yet...when I do go I'll bring a camera and post some pics.

Of note, the new ones are "slightly" different than the originals.
You will note that after 30+ years, the "U" letters are filling in with slag, and all the letters are appearing "thicker" than on originals.
Not a big deal unless you're having it judged AND the judge happens to spot it. I've decided to take the hit for now until after my 72 gets its Bowtie.
I've looked for originals on eBay, but unbroken ones go for $200, and with my luck they'd break by the time they arrived at my house.

I went today!

Well, I took the journey up north to get me a locking gas cap and a funky plug to hook my radio up to the speaker. Neither part I could find anywhere, so this place was great! I took pics, but they came out crappy...I saw a buch of frames piled up a bunch of misc. stripped C3's , tons of other stuff in the warehouse...probably a good source for stuff that you can't find anywhere else.
