I am at my wits end with this motor. After finding out I have a 350 replacement engine with a Eldelbrock 600 carb, I can not get it to run correctly. When I time it to 12deg. btc it runs very rough, but not so much at idle. But to give it a few rpm's it is very rough running.....burbling and the engine is shaking. Almost feels like something electrical is breaking down. Have the carb tuned with the jets at about 3 turns out. Any less and it is worse. Why can't I get it timed at 12 degs? Any ideas as to what to do? Thanks

What engine is it? How about the coil- is it new?

iT'S A 350 CRATE MOTOR, I guess made in Mexico, according to the numbers. Been thinking about the coil. It is old looking. Any more ideas. CERTAINLY WELCOMED
Thanks

Is it making any unusual noises? Clatter, popping thru the intake or exhaust? You should be able to drop the timing to 0* and it still run. Check your firing order, make sure all the wires are on correctly- and I'm not picking on you- it's easy to do-- check your advance- both the mechanical and vacuum you could have a weight stuck or the advance can is stuck.

How long ago did you start having problems? Was something changed? New plugs?

Thanks for the reply.Only new points and plugs. Plug wire in correctly, right firing order.I think I found part of the problem today tho. knew I had a vacuum leak with my headlights and it seem as tho it was affecting the whole system. Plugged the headlight hose till the new rebuild kit comes and the engine is running smoother. Thanks
