Crusie Control
I know for many that the idea of Cruise Control on a vette is perhaps an oxymoron, but I'm going to be doing a Rt 66 type of an adventure shortly and with a bad knee I'm going to be wishing I had mine if I don't get it working.
Mine became intermitent a few months ago and would not always engage. When it would engage it worked just as it should. It would disengage when I would do a lane change signal and sometimes it would not turn on when I depressed the switch while at other times it would. Now the ON/OFF switch has become completely mushy and never engages the system. Seeing that there is potential access to this little switch I began exploring. I pried off the cover exposing the slide portion of the switch and popped off the on/off switch cap and retaining ring. I didn't want to go any further without more knowledge so I went down to my closest Chevy dealer. There, one of the General's finest luitenants advised me in his perfectly honed manner that I was a stupid idiot and that "of course" you had to purchase the entire stalk assembly (cha-ching"), pull the steering wheel ("cha-ching") and ... I know you can figure out the rest. As much for the loathing I have for this kind of "customer service" as well as for saving a couple of bucks I come here to the real experts in the hope for a better fix.
Actually I fear he is correct but I wanted to check in to see if anyone had any experience with my issue. I appreciate any help and let's keep waving, which I remained convinced that far too many of our C-5 brothers and sisters don't have a clue.:confused
