Well not sure how many of you fellas are aware that aftermarket LT(x) intakes are a rare commodity. Edelbrock tried to put one on the market but for some unknown reason (probably realized improvements were minimal if any) it was never produced. There are 2 companies {Hogans and MorePerformance} that produce them but at a hefty price of 2.5K.

Finally, an individual on the main Z28 board has taken the time into research and development to produce an aftermarket intake for LT(x) that increases plenum from the stock's 175cc to a whopping 330cc. Guys with SNAT's in the 383 to 396 range will benefit tremendously from this intake. Here is the link

Tell me what you fellas think.........

...interesting

Long ago, the only option (besides the big buck manifolds you mentioned) was the LPE / ACCEL SuperRam - it was made to clear (the F bod's) and did help torque which is not an attribute of the LT1 manifold design.,,

Are you looking at doing this with your car?? BTW - pics of it finished??? :m

That's a lotta bux for that manifold. If you're bottom end of the motor is already built to the hilt then this manifold certainly has its place. The stock LT1 manifold was restrictive at the throttle body throat and the runner passages. If you cut out the material in the front of the manifold and turn it into a big oval opening-- there's the 1st gain. Schlap a monoblade 1300cfm throttle body on there-- there's your second gain.. and thirdly, clean up and widen the air passages as they lead to the heads. The factory gaskets alignment was poor at best so careful trimming there is also a good idea. All of this can be done in a long Saturday afternoon with a grinder and sanding rolls... for $1450 less.... :)

20 hp ABOVE a max ported lt1 intake with welded injector locations......thats more like 40hp above the regular manifold most are using.

say for an example, you have a 383 motor with good heads

with stock intake manifold.....450rwhp

fully ported, welded lt1/4 intake.....470rwhp (about $400 for a good job)

Steve's intake makes 20 more hp peak.........490rwhp ($1500)

If any of you fellas are interested in this piece let me know, this guy knows his LT(x) stuff to the fullest!

EricVonHa: Trust me soo many individuals with the LT1 have done what you mentioned but the gains were relatively minimal. He relocates the injector and elimantes the ski ramp humps located within the runner for a smoother direct shot.

Take care everyone

Johnny
