What all do I need to swap in a dana 44 from a dana 36? I am still using a dana 36 with a 3.07 gear and I am getting nervous that it will blow up one day.

I am looking to do some drag racing this spring/summer/fall and the only reason I stayed away from the track last year is the dana 36. I do not want to destroy it making a 1/4 mile run.

So can somebody please list the parts I will need to swap in a dana 44 for my auto C4?

Carrier and gears, batwing, c-beam, driveshaft, new Spicer Bros non zirked U-joints all around. I have read that some people have adapted the c-beam and driveshaft from the D36 to work with the 44, but usually when you get them you can find all the stuff together. I paid $1200 for mine, 90 day warranty from a wrecking yard.

The c-beam and driveshaft are abou 1-1/2" inches shorter on the D44 do to a longer tailshaft as I recall. Good luck.
