Can anyone explain why my dash lights pulsate? Seems to happpen more on a cold vehicle, goes away after a while. I think I can see it in the headlights as well. My first thought was too much amperage being drawn by radio amps, but not to be. Still happens after radio is off.

Check the voltage regulator output on your alternator. That is a sign that it is about to STB.

Are you sure that it's just not the photocell doing its job? ;shrug

I've seen the amperage required for heavy bass notes alter the lighting. Radio off; no pulsing?

Methinks the photocell is out of the circuit when the lights are on, right? Could eliminate a bad 'P-cell'.

I would have the alternator w/ regulator checked by a specialist, electrical shop.

Mine dim in synch with the turn signal flashing, and my alternator has less than 10 milliVolt AC ripple and puts out plenty of amps (70 or so on a cold start with the lights on). Could it be a bad electrical connection and if so where?

Mine does it too, I think it's a common concern, but in 3 years and 10K no problems have developed. Doesn't matter if I cover the photocell either...

Heavy volume bass beat flashes on the big lcd. I have new big time alternator. The stereo is 200 watts. It hasn't blown it up yet, just a little disco effect at no charge.

If it does it all the time I am clueless. The guy that fixed my brake lights for $450 could tell ya.
