I've had my '00 for about 5 months, and last night, and again this morning, when I turned the lights on, it seemed like it took about 10 seconds for the dash lights to come on? I was starting to wonder if I had a blown fuse or something, but they did finally come on. Has anyone else had this problem?

HI there,
I would suggest that your lighting system be checked.
First, do the other dash lights work??????
Second, if it is only the DIC gauge package that is not working, about how long does it take for the lights to actually come on, after turning on the switch????
Please remember, that the IPC, or DIC as it is referenced, is lit with Vacuum fluorescent technology, and is NOT on the circuit for lighting the radio, HVAC control head, switches on the doors, or the rest.

Thanks for the reply. By "dash" I'm referring to all the dash lights, not just the DIC, everything but the headlights. THis morning they didnt come on, I turned the switch back off, then on, and they worked, so now Im suspecting the switch. The week after buying the car I had to replace ($320) the turn signal switch and backup light switch, so I'm wondering if Vettes aren't prone to electrical problems.

Yes Vettes have numerous electrical problems as well as many others. I would have it checked out ASAP before something else goes wrong. Are you still in warranty?

No, unfortunately. It has almost 50K now. Had 43K when I bought it last May. Just out of curiosity, wheres the turn signal switch located? Just wondering if my replacing it could be related to this problem.

I had the same problem with my 97. Look and see if the tail lights come on, and if the fog lights come on. With mine when the dash lights were out, these other lights stayed out as well. The headlight doors would also not go back down. If I hit, or kicked the door in front of the BCM, in the passenger footwell, the problem would go away, so I am thinking loose ground wire. The problem for some reason has not resurfaced in almost 6 months.

Will check that this weekend. Thanks for help!

HI there,
It is possible that the installation is related, as the parking lamp circuit controls the lighting system.
I would also check to see if the 7mm retaining nut is properly torqued at the main harness connector.

I wasnt sure about the relation, since the turn signal and reverse lights switches were replaced about 4 months ago. Dumb question, but wheres the main harness located? By the computer?

HI there,
If you remove the lower knee bolster, you will see a larger 23 pin connector, as this is C209.
It is to the left side of the steering column, mounted to the crossbar.
There is a 7mm bolt, holding the 2 halves together.
Make sure you cannot turn it, or push the connector halves together.
