I just wanted to report this small triumph i had over the weekend.

For the past forever since i've had my vette, i've had rattles and things in the dash. I finally took the leap and took apart everything. I removed the plastic piece infront of the speedometer, i removed the console, then to remove the panel holding the radio and climate control in. Got access to everything.

I feel around a little... notice my climate control module is held in on one side by a regular vette bolt, but on the other side this silver type phillips screw. Clearly not right and it was completely loose in the hole. It was not holding it down at all. Just spinning in the hole.

I took an extra bolt from the back storage compartment tray and tightened everything down!

Also on the passenger side, i took out the dash vents and put some glue to hold the vents to the face plate thing. One side kept coming loose.

Everything is QUIET now in the interior. No rattles! This took some time, but wasnt hard at all.

:upthumbs

Cool! :cool One thing I can't stand is squeaks and rattles. ;squint:

I fixed nearly all of those pesky noises by installing a self-powered sub-woofer / midrange in the space under the lowered top. The additional sound masks those noises, but i can still hear the tires talking to me on those tight, fast turns. :D

a friend of mines dad had an early model c4 that he bought new and i still to this day remember him and my dad talking about how the car was a rattle trap and they could never find where it was coming from, my 82 has more rattles & squeaks than i even dare to try to explain

GM has a 12 page TSB on Squeeks and Rattles...its at our website corvettearchives.com under TSB's,Body and Trim,Squeeks and Rattles

My Favorite "fix" that isnt on there was told to me by a friend who was Mr Goodwrench in 84 relates to the door mirrors vibrating and customer complaints. They stuck a piece of cardboard behind the mirror assembly. By the time the cardboard rotted away the car was out of warranty and the customer was SOL! :-0

One method I use is to remove the offending piece and paint both sides with "Tool Dip" which can be bought at Home Depot for $5.99. It is paintable rubber which can be thinned with Naphtha. It has worked wonders on peices that rattle against each other.

Could be good info except for the "artsy" lettering on the menu (which i can't read) and the strange images each menu choice brings up, with text that is too small to be viewable for my old eyes. too bad.

Really? you cant read that...hmmm...too old for a vette then ;LOL

Dont want to steal thread...would appreciate feedback from all in message...not in this thread.. to my questions below thanks!
Seriously though.... what strange images...are the flash buttons on bottom working?
The actual scans of the pages are a little fuzzy...scanned many years ago. They were actually meant to be saved and then used in a viewer or printed..not actually read online.
I will however see what I can do to make it more friendly. I'm thinking adobe pdf might be better. BTW, what size screen are you using. It may just be that I havent properly accounted for different sizes and the images are getting blurred.
Thanks for imput!
