Has anyone changed out their Front in-dash speakers?...I want a quality speaker that can take a beating, and one that I can use the stock plug , w/o cutting my wires....Basically I want to plug them in , drop them in and put the grills back on.

Polk Audio makes some nice 4x6 speakers. I've put them in two C3s and loved them. You'll need to use some spade connectors to get from the OEM harness to the wires for the speakers.

I used alpine 4x6 coaxial model sps- 609. This was in a 81. The magnets are biger than the original and passenger side hit the inside of the dash pad plastic molding. Some grinding was required.

JL Audio speakers will last a while and take the beating. not sure about the connecters .

Do they fit w/o altering the car?...Magnet size and drilling are my main concerns.I can wire them w/o altering the stock wires. I had to cut the 3 antenna wires to extricate the assembly from the car and that really killed me. Original is of utmost importance....BTW...Nice Mouser!....I've got 2 for the barn myself.....Not 1 varmit has eaten a thing off of any of my cars so I'll take a little scratch here and there.

Powerbass 4x6 S-462 speakers are in and sound great....Only $40.00 for the pair at a custom shop!...I'm gonna be bored when all the little details are fixed.......Man...I love that B&M shift kit.!!!.Chirp,chirp, chirp!

dASH SPEAKERS

All of those speakers sounds great but HOW?????? do you take that dash off???? Been trying for days! Do tell:W

Nooooo! Take a flathead screwdriver and stick it under the speaker grill, and lift gently. There is enough give in them that they will bend and pop right off.Put a paper towel under the screwdriver so you don't make any marks on anything...The 2 front screws are cake but the screws by the windsheild are going to be fun depending on your tool collection.:upthumbs

It has been too long ago, when I changed them to remember the brand.
The fronts were perfect size and connector.
the rears where a little thick, but some creative fitting got em in.
Go to a car stereo specialty shop, they will have what you want.

I put Pioneer speakers in the front and back and work great. Hooked up with no modifications

Well all is complete. I finally got the power antenna going with the help of mkapp's part and technical advice....The CB works again and the original GM radio actually sounds pretty darn good at volume....Hmmm....now what ?...I'll just drive it and enjoy it until winter, at which point the Quadrajet will come off and get re-built and maybe a suspension upgrade......It's great to have such a fun hobby...:thumb
