So it's been a while before I have started my car, and surprise the battery is dead. It should be replaced. But since I have never boosted off of this car I am worried if that is such a good idea with such a electronically complex car. Maybe I should just replace the battery and not jump start it. Is there any danger if I do it properly. Any help would be really helpful. Thank you very much!!

It sounds as though you might still have a AC Delco battery in it. It may still have some residual charge in the battery. I am more concerned about the battery leaking on your electronics. If you can, get both the 9 volt cigarette lighter connection and plug it in while you are changing the battery. I put in a Oltima yellow top in mine, both leak proof and deep cycle.

I have the original battery in my 1998 . Should I be concerned?
Do batteries typically last this long ? Do others have first battery yet ? Dave

I would change it soon!

My 1998 Battery died without warning in 2001. Went to crank her up in a parking lot and got nothing. Thank goodness for AAA AutoClub that came to my rescue, they even went and purchased me a new battery and installed it.

Just last summer replaced the stock battery in my 98. It was leaking a little from the terminal though, probably caught it just in time before it did serious damage.

Insult & Battery

I bought mine new and the second morning the battery would not turn over the motor. How "insulting" - as some of my friends had come over to see the new car. The dealer sent over a mechanic with a new battery (Delco direct replacement) and all was well.
