I have a 1988 convertible with 71,000 miles. Here is my and the dealers problem. I bought the car 3 months ago and put on 500 error free miles. After cleaning it up, over the winter, I took it for its first ride this spring. It started well and about 1 mile later when you pushed on the pedal it would fad & if you nursed the throttle you could get it to roll, but that was about it. Took it to a dealer, they fixed a wire to one injector and I headed home. It sat for one month and took it out again and the same thing happened, back to dealer and they said Mass air sensor. Got one from Elckers, they installed and away it went only for 65 miles. Towed it back to the dealer. They started it and it ran great for about 10 miles. They changed the plug to the sensor and a new computer, no major change. One change was when the car was idling and started to bog down they tapped on the Mass Fuel senor and it would pick up its RPM's. This fix lasted about 20 taps on the Mass Fuel sensor and now it is back to where it was. When they take it for a test ride it stalls out about same distance. Last Code read 33. Getting a replacement Mass Fuel Sensor in desperation. They also checked the, fuel filter, injectors and throttle control sensor. Can you help me with this Gremlin!

What do you mean "They checked the fuel filter"....I do hope they replaced it! I would do that myself to make sure it gets done. Error codes are great but they don't tell you your filter is clogged. I think there 10 bucks...get it out of the equation!

I just finished having a similar problem. Mine wasn't throwing any codes and the car would run great when it was cold. But once it got hot it would start stalling. Gradually, it kept getting worse and driving distances would get shorter & shorter untill it quit all together. I wasn't untill it finally died and I spent a bunch of money replacing stuff that I was able to determine that the ingition module had failed. Once I replaced it, it runs great. Don't know if you're having the same problem.
