Chevy dealer on its way out- The New Haven Register - Serving Greater New Haven, CT

This is the dealership I was working for.

My heart and prayers go out to the Dworkin Family.

They did the best they could.

It's a shame, and more than a little scary, but I'm afraid this is a scenario which will become more and more prevalent in the foreseeable future.

I'm sorry you've been hit by this, Paul... but I fear you'll have lots of company in that boat soon.

GMAC pulls the cars, then runs them through the auction at a huge loss, exactly like they did for the Bill Heard group. What do they gain? They lose real dollars instead of a taking a paper loss while the cars are on the lot. Also note that GMAC is now a bank and got money from Uncle so they don't have to do exactly what they did in this case. More than a few people were asleep in the board room while God was passing out brains.

I'm very sorry for this incident. I have been worried about dealerships for the past year, and the dealership who does the work on my 2003, It's a great run dealership, but in a email I got from the owners the other day (while being positive) but they too eluded to what might come. The dealership that works on my car has been selling and serving Chevrolets since 1926. For now, their holding on, but how long, well no one knows about that. :confused

Whats going on? I called up earlier this week for a service appointment next week since maxie was out of school and they told me to come up anytime...(oil change, clutch fluid change)

As much as I wish them well and they are great people.......Your the man C4C5...

If your not there...I'm not making the interstate trip..I got 20% left on the oil monitor anyway...

Maybe Maxie can come up with me and we can take you out to lunch? Screw the service till you re relocated...and ready...(if your not available next week for lunch...I totally can respect that)

Paul, i know this wont make you feel any better, but it doesnt just happen in the US, the biggest Corvette Dealer here is closing too and a lot of Euro Vette owners are worried where to take their new cars for warranty, as the dealers are none existant.

They even have taken offers for 2009 cars, but dont have any in the port locale where they store their inventory and they cant take out the car until you paid up.. :eyerole

Sad. But, i am hopefull you can find employment with your talent.

I thought the dealerships were independently owned and operated. How does GM save money by closing them?
