Decoding a Corvette rear end?

Is there anywhere online where I can find info on decoding a Corvette rear end carrier/diff?

I don't know if there's something here in the "Model Center" (?) or not. Post the numbers/letters you find stamped on the bottom of the diff housing and we can decode it (assuming it has the original gears in it). The casting number is on the passenger side, above the horizontal "fin", and the casting date is on the driver's side, buried behind the strut rod bracket.

That was originally a 4.11 Posi for a '69 small-block (U-bolt yoke caps), assembled on 2nd shift at Chevrolet-Warren on August 7, 1969.

And that's all just off the top of his head! :L

Actually, the big block rears would have a different code, and used heavier duty caps with reg. type bolts, not the u-bolt style.

Yes - that's the only difference between a SB and BB diff.
