I have a 2002 coupe, someone removed the 12 disc changer before I bought it but left the wiring harness and bracket. I know the number for the Corvette changer is 25685332, I have been told that a changer from a 1998 and up Cadillac Cateria and one model year of a Lumina will also work. The number for the Cadillac is 16199553. The body of the changer looks the same and mounts the same. Will it work?

Thanks
Barry

HI there,
From what I am told by a few electronics engineers, it is possible.
E&C communications is pretty much standard among GM car lines, so I do not think that there will be a problem either.
But, I would also suggest you check Ebay for an actual Corvette changer, just to be on the safe side.

I have one GM CD-changer 16199553 out of a Cadillac that I was going to use but I never got around to installing and running the wire though the car for it. It tests fine. Has the 12 cd caddy too. Unit looks good except for a scuff on the plastic face but considering it mounts inside the cargo bay is not a big deal. I don't drive much so I'm selling it to someone who can enjoy it. I'm asking $125 plus shipping. A good deal. email me if you want it. I'll send you pictures.

Can in-dash CD integrate with CD Changer using radio controls?

I have a 2000 coupe with the in-dash CD. I had previously inquired about installing a CD changer, in another type of GM car, that was integrated with a Delco AM/FM/CD in-dash radio and was told categorically that it could not be done (integrated in the sense that the CD changer was controlled from the in-dash radio and not through an RF modulator. The question I have is whether anyone has other info that would show it is possible to integrate a Delco AM/FM/CD radio with a CD changer. The next question would be: how do I determine whether the cableing has been routed to the hatchback compartment. If need be, I may just go ahead and install an RF modulated CD unit, but an integrated unit that uses the radio buttons and not a separate controlling interface would be a lot nicer. Thanks. BTW, I know this question is somewhat off the intention of this thread but I didn't want to start a similar thread related to a CD Changer.

If your Radio has a AUX button and a 9 or 10 pin input in the rear it will work with a CD Changer (Delco). Many GM radios and GM cd changer form different models are compatible. There are some aftermarket interface harnesses availible to allow a kenwood (or others) cd-changers to work with a stock delco radio.

Thanks a lot. My radio does have an AUX button (My car is in the shop so I'm not looking at it but I think the aux button is on the same button as the cd, in other words it's a multifunction button). As for the 9-10 pin input in the rear, I doubt I could determine that without having a radio shop do it. I'm useless when it comes to mechanics. But you've given me more confidence to go ahead and try to have a shop install an integrated hatchback well-mounted unit. Thanks again.

I'm putting a CD changer in my 02 this weekend. The wiring harness is under the toe board on the passengers side, you will need the harness that goes from there to the rear. I'll let you know how much trouble it was to install next week.

Thanks, my biggest concern, next to whether or not a CD would interface directly with my AM/FM/CD radio, would be whether or not I'm wired for it. Once again, I'm not all that mechanically or electrically inclined so I'd have a professional probably install it for me.

I have a brand new Corvette Delco changer and install kit for $475, if you are interested.

Hey, thanks for the offer. Right now my car's been in the shop for 3 of the 4 weeks I've owned it and will be there for at least another week. I haven't yet researched enough about whether my car is wired for a CD player or how it interfaces with my radio or anything else. I need to get my car back with all the other bugs fixed and then go onto more research about the radio. If interested later, I'll check back with you. Thanks.

If your car had the 12 Cd changer in it and the wiring harness is there you won't have any issues.. you can install it.. just plug it in and mount it.. put your Cd's in and injoy.

The harness showed up today and it took a couple of hours to install, the hardest part of the whole deal is routing the harness to the back. Mine has the single CD player in the dash and works with the changer fine. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
