Nothing at Summit or my local parts stores. I only found it at Jeg's for $40 but it only shows to run on windoze NT, 2000, 98,95. I'm running XP. Does anyone know of an alternative or a place that sells an XP compatible version??
thanks

it works well but i have not used it much since i retired. the "PRO" version is better if you are into real serious engine building and you need a lot more info to put into the program to get results. any of these programs are just a estimation of power but they are very good at doing comparisons of different parts in the same engine
yeah i used it when i was building circle track motors and figuring cam changes really helped out.I saw the pro version but i dont need anything like that anymore.
What is desktop dyno, and engine analyzer? I assume they are engine programs but do they hook up to the car? What do they tell you? Sorry for asking but this sparked my interest. I would love to get some kind of software to hook up to my car, and monitor engine characteristics.

Forgive me if this question is stupid. So can you start with a stock engine, like my L98 setup. Will it allow you to add mods, like intake, or ported heads, perhaps headers or something like that. Does it have a database of stock engines and the specs of them?
With engine analzyer you can make changes, like heads cam specs, intakes, throttle bodys, carbs, header length, superchargers nitrous, its endless. And it does have a database of models to change and choose from.
If you have a laptop or a home computer in your garage you can hook your car to it and run your 86 through it.Without having to use a scanner.YOu need the software and a cable.
Pat,
What exactly does the scanner do? I assume it shows sensor values and engine parameters like BLM data and knock counts? Does that even make any sense? DFI doesn't use that. I am about to switch my '73 over from the Accel DFI gen 6 to a stock GM ECM, a '727 I believe. I will want to monitor everything I can and change it if possible on the fly like I can do with the DFI. I am trying to figure out what the best tools (software and hardware) are to do this with.
I looked at some TunerCat stuff on the web as well as some other stuff. Didn't really understand it much. I don't know the GM tuning lingo I guess.
I found a guy that claims that the GM ECM's can now be adjusted on the fly at this website -> http://www.customefis.com/rttuning.html Haven't heard of anybody using his stuff though. I think the tool is made by TunerCat.
thanks
