Just a quick note to both of you to say thanks for your expertise and tips.
I’ve been reading through these threads and what used to be a no brainer for a teen in the ‘60s seems to have turned into a science. But a pattern finally emerged.
Bolstered by my new found information, I took the day off to spend some quality time with “the baby” so that now I only have to cut the grass on the weekend and can spend some time,
I ultimately settled on Meguiar’s products, for no particular reason than I already had the Meguiar's Gold Class Liquid and it seemed logical to use products from the same manufacturer. Add in ScratchX and Quick Detail. I used the Clay Magic, Blue Clay bar. (BTW, how often can the bar be used, or how do you know when to switch out?)
The car wasn’t in bad condition but you could see some neglect from the previous owner. Things like grayish flecks behind the wheel wells and down the rocker panels, slight swirls, and some very visible scratches on the top of the RR fender. ALL NOW GONE, thanks to the clay bar and ScratchX.
There are two small “drip” spots on the hood that look like someone dropped Crazy Glue or a similar substance. Neither the clay bar or ScratchX helped here and I am afraid to try anything stronger. After all, they’re small and unnoticeable at speed.
Soooo, that was my day. The end result is beautiful, but then again, there really aren’t any ugly Vettes!
Many thanks to you both.
Tom
