I was looking at an 04 Convertible and notices the battery had the green "eye" on it. Did GM go back to old wet cell battery in 04 instead of the AGM?

How can i tell if my Delco battery is AGM ? It is a 98 . just bought car used

Thanks

Hi there,
AGM was introduced in 2001 in Corvette. Although, you might have gotten one on replacement if the owner knew about them.
The designation on the top of the battery is 75P-7YR, and it is grey in color.
There is a description on it also.

Thanks. That was a smart and inexpensive move on GM's part. The side post was where they usually cracked. Simple ideas are the best. Too bad it took them 3 years to think of it. Or maybe they finally read the memo the service techs (mechanics) sent them. Only in America. It reminds me of the space pen story. Do you know it?

HI there,
No, however, if alot of people did NOT overtighten the posts on the side terminals, there would have been alot less breakage.
11 ft lbs was all they should have been tightened to.

While you are correct about over tightening the posts...........the battery should not be mounted above the wiring harness . EVERY wet battery " sweats " or leaks sooner or later.

Normal ballpoint pens will not work in zero gravity. The USA spent a very large sum of money to develop a pen that will write in 0-Gs. After the cold war ended we found out that the Russians had the same problem. Not having the deep pockets of the US their solution was to use pencils instead of pens.

Let's adjust that story a little bit - the pen was developed by the Fisher Pen company using their own funds. They approached NASA with the pen and NASA liked it and licensed and certified them for use on US spacecraft. Public tax money was not used to develop the pens.

How about the purchase? Any tax money used there? I hope it wasn't purchased by the same fellow that bought the $600.00 toilet seats. :D

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.........:L
