Dies when it shifts into 2nd gear

I have been working on a 75 vet. It starts and runs fine. new carb and fuel pump. Under heavy load (or foot) it dies when it shifts into second gear. Does any one have any ideas?

dies suddenly, like you turned of the ignition or dies quickly but not abruptly as if you ran out of gas?

Don't know what to think about your problem, could be 101 things and something pretty simple like something loose! Wouldn't think shifting to 2nd gear has any significance other than moving. maybe someone more familiar will chime in here!! The engine just goes quite. If you let your foot off the gas the motor come right back to running . if you keep your foot down the dash will light up like it stalled. It's seams to be starved of fuel. The car had been sitting for 15 years. I change the fuel pump and carb. I flushed the lines. The only thing I haven't done yet is to take the tank out. I believe that is my next move.
