Do C5s have different rearends depending of if its a stick or auto, like the C4s have dana 36 for the auto and dana 44 for the stick

HI there,
The actual housings, and strength are the same, however, ratios are not.
2.73 for the auto.
3.15 if you option for the performance axle in the auto.
3.42 if you have the stick shift.

And to add one more, I belive the Z06 rear end, while still 3.42, has shot peened gears which are stronger then the standard version.

do you know what size carrier the c5 has? Im just currious how much a stock drivetrian on a c5 can handle.

Not sure, but the weakpoint appears to be the output shaft of the tranny as several have broke them and there is a stronger aftermarket version available.

Hi there,
This is really not the weak point, however, due to the hardening process of the shaft. They will fracture with shock transmitted through the driveline, like during dragstrip launches.
The aftermarket output shaft is hardened in a different way, so that it actually flexes, so that it does not snap.
