Hi everyone,
My '70 car lost its TI ignition sometime in its 34 year life.

I intend to bring back the ignition system to its original state. I already have the amp, coil and wiring and now need the distributor with a correct build date.

How many of you still have a functionning TI system in their car and with which distributor (#1111491, #1111971, #1111496).

Your help is much appreciated

make sure you convert the amp to the latest guts because the orignal parts are not very reliable or carry a spare amp like we did back in the 60s.

Wolf, I will try and remeber to look tonight after work. It is nice to see a picture of your car, very nice. If you are having trouble finding parts you might check Hemmings on line. I receive their book each month and the Corvette parts section is loaded with items. Also the parts suppliers here in the States have incredable catalogs for parts. Mike in San Diego.

The amp has the latest insides from TI Specialty.
But to play it safe, maybe it's best to get a second one. I'll have look on eBay.

Hi everyone,
Where exactly was the transistor ignition amp fitted.
I know that it was somewhere next to the radiator on a panel (driver's side) with its ribs facing to the front of the car.
Could someone post some photos of the amp's position?
The installing of the TI distributor, coil and new wiring harness should not pose problems.
Regards,
Wolf

Thanks for bringing this up, I also am curious to know where to look for this item.

I also looked for mine. The amplifier is mounted so far forward on the left front inner fender, I couldn't see it at first and doubted I even had it. I followed the wiring harness from the tach and there it was, tucked way up front. I also looked from the underside of the wheel well to locate the 3 mounting screws.

Gee, you guys are right. I looked and looked (two looks) for that darn thing. I too thought mine had been removed. Last night night I gave it one more look (total =3 looks). Thanks to you guys I finally found it. You weren't kidding about that darn thing being in a corner. I nearly broke my neck searching for it. Thanks all for the tip. Notice how happy I am cuz I have one?
