Does a 1970 BB Corvette use a 'short style water pump', 3/4" ???

I seem to remember someone telling me that it is somewhat of a special pump. Can someone please confirm ?

The diameter of the shaft going into the water pump pulley is a different size. The Corvette has the short water pump with a 5/8" shaft. We just confirmed that on my buddies 71 454.
