I bought a 71 Vette back in the early 80's that had a lot of body mods and a cool paint job. When the kids came along, I threw it into the garage, where it has been sitting ever since. Recently, I saw a photo of what was captioned as a Motion Corvette, and it looks just like the one I have. I have been told that Joel Rosen, who owned Motion, will authenticate a Vette for $1000. That's a little steep for me, especially if mine is just a clone. Is anyone else out there an expert on Motion Vettes that can tell me something to look for? Mine has the original 454, and it was scary fast. When you floored it, it was as if the car just exploded, and it was a true white-knuckle ride.

There have been many discussions here about Joel Rosen and Motion Corvettes.

It seems to all boil down to paying him the money and hoping yours is real. He's the only one with the documentation that I know of.

Welcome to the :CAC

P.S. I visited Motion Performance in 1968........the Mecca of hot Chevies at the time.

Thanks. I was hoping that there might be one signature thing that they did on all of their Vettes, that I could look for. If I could find something like that, then I would feel more at ease in putting up that much money to see if it was real. I'd still like to hear fom anyone else that has an opinion, information, etc.

They made a lot of 1969's. As far I can tell very few 1971's. I can only find one picture of a 1971 Baldwin Motion Vette on the net. No modifications to the front end. Basicall looks stock from the exterior with side pipes.

If your is a Baldwin motion for starters it should have the signature valve covers and raised gas cap.

Do you have the Monza type headlights?

Start with researching the engine numbers. Is it the original motor? It should be with modifications if its a Baldwin.

I spoke with Mr Rosen about the body mods once. He basically said that when the car was ordered, the owner could specify which mods were wanted including the headlights and fastback rear window. So an authentic Motion vette could have all or none of the body mods.

It all boils down to how much you want to know if it is real. $1000 is a drop in the bucket if it turns out to be a real Motion car. With documentation, your value would more than triple.

JERYST......go to www.makoshark2.com and pose your question. That is a custom corvette ONLY site. Folks their have Mako Sharks, Motion, CANAM's and Greenwood cars. You'll find the site very informative as well!! Good Luck..I am Andy76 on the site.
