I just got my car back from the paint shop and I scratched the new paint already. :cry The forward lower edge of the door rubbed on the aft edge of the fender. That little bit of paint made the clearance just a bit too small. I need to lift the back edge of my drivers door a little bit so I can increase the gap on the front edge. I tried to loosen the bolts inside the car for the hinge but they would only let the door move in and out not front and back. How do I do this?

which bolts did you loosen. The ones that you need to loosen are behind the door panel. You may also want to check to see if your door bushings are worn.If so replace them before you attempt to readjust the door.Let me know how it comes out. :w

-hidden access to the bolts...

-the upper/door-hinge bolts are hidden by a metal-cover (retained by two small hex-screws) that you can see only with the door opened, --and the bolt-heads are accessed by a socket-wrench. You may want to shim under the door with a thin piece of wood (hint: -such as a free paint/stir-paddle from HomeDepot). The bottom/door-hinge bolts are indeed probably behind the upholstered/door-panel; and unfortunately, that becomes a bit more of a hastly to access. However, before you disturb the door/mounting-bolts, check the clearance at the aft-end of the door, to make sure it isn't already to snug to allow aftward shifting of the door... ~Bob vH
