I've noticed that the positions that the doors are held open are not useful.
The first position is too narrow for me to exit the car, and the second
position is all the way open - too wide to use in a parking lot or my garage
without contacting something.
Has anyone tried to use some restrictor or any method to change eithere of these
positions. I'd like to change the first position to make it wider by about 12 inches or so,
enough for me to use as exit/entry.
Even something as crude as a rubber bumper to block full opening would be OK.
TIA

Hi
I have the same problem, the first stop to small,I keep kicking the door trim, started to scuff.
I will watch this space with you.

This may be your chance to invent something. I am not aware of a product to help this situation. The torque forces on the door hinge area are massive. Anything put in there to limit travel has to be strong or the shear opening force will break it loose.

A rubber bumper is a great idea, but where to put it?

When the spring fails in the hinge, the door no longer has that first opening click. However, it won't stay open at all and will keep closing on you as you try to exit. So, you will have to keep the spring, and live with the first click in the assembly.

Rubber is probably the trick...but how?

I guess I hit on a topic with some inerest.
I'm going to take a closer lookat the door mechanism and see if I can
come up with something.
Meanwhile if there are any suggestions please put replies on this post
and I'll follow up on them.
It's getting to be winter soon and I'll be garaging the vette at a remote location until April,
so I may not be doing much on it until then.
