Door hard to shut

I noticed on my passenger door, you really have to slam it to get it to shut tight. I wince every time I shut it. The body is solid, so I think it has to do with the jam. Should I just take some type of grease and try to lube the heck out of it? Hopefully that won't be too messy. Probably the white grease is the best.

pins and bushings ?? fixed mine and it closed up the door gaps as well.

Hi Lance,

How does the door align when it's closed? e.g. is it higher or lower than the surrounding body, is the door farther in or stay out from the surrounding body??

The passager door is usually the "Good One" when it comes to sagging and bushing being worn ;) I'm thinking the "Striker Pin" in the door jam needs to be adjusted. If it does, you'll need a large "STAR" socket to make the adjustments. I bought a 3/8" drive set at Sears. The striker has limited movement and does not move straight up or down more kattywhompus ;)

With this adjustment you can adjust the alignment along the body lines at the rear of the door and the surrounding body. I found once I got the adjustment close, I snug up the striker pin then used a deadhammer to tap it to the perfect position, then finish tightening.
