Hey guys,

What is the best method to replacing the brass hinge pin bushings on the doors?
I have purchased the pins and bushes in a kit and have had a little play with it and tried to tap the pins up, hoping that they would just tap out. Mind you, I have only given them a little tap as I didn't want to break anything.

Thanks

Tony

You can tap the bottom hinge pin out, but you'll likely have difficulty with the top pin. The pin has a large round head, and it often will not clear the edge of the fender.

SO....you might have to loosen the hinge from the body jamb...not an easy job on the drivers side...to get the top pin out.

You might be able to grind the head of the pin from an "O" configuration to a "D". The "flat" of the "D" might clear the fender. Chuck

Im assuming you have the doors off or at least loos from the hinge. For that problem with the pin hitting the fender ,you can also tap it out half way and cut the top half off and then tap it the rest of the way out.Goin back in you might have to install i from the bottom side.Another tip is to tap the bushings out using a socket the same size.

Thanks

Thanks guys

I will give that a go.
No I haven't got the doors off, I was sort of hoping that I wouldn't have to do that, but it looks that way.

Cheers

Tony
