Hey everyone,

Well my doors are old and saggy, so I think it is time to have them lifted.
Does anyone have any tips/tricks for door hinge replacement?

Thanks!

The hinges themselves are probably fine, but the bushings (and maybe the pins) need replacement; also check to see if the rivets attaching the hinge reinforcing plate to the door are loose.

Open the door about a foot and try to move it up and down; if it moves, determine where the motion is taking place, and that's where to start.

I have tried to lift on the door and it moves up and down about 1/4 or 1/2 an inch.

Are the pin and bushing easy to replace?

I was thinking that I could (very carefully) put a jack under the door to keep it from falling as I replaced the pins.

Thank you for the help!

I recently removed my door to access the fender and bonding strips.

  • Use jack stands to support the door
  • Use one at the front and one at the back
  • Remove the bolts the door should come off easily!

don't forget to remove the power window wiring. I would recomend a second person to be there in case you get in trouble or need help, I did mine by myself, but wished I had help.

These doors are very heavy so you need to have help or rig a sling to hold the door. I replaced the pins and bushings without help and it was not a lot of fun. Removal of the old pins and replacing with new ones was easy. Lining up the hinges was quite tricky without another set of hands.

Whilst installing my Lambo door kit,
I must have removed/replaced the doors
about 30-40 times each!!!:cry
I used a trolley jack with a rubber pad- THEY ARE HEAVY!
Blankets (to protect paint when storing/put on top
milk crate-SEE BELOW),
Milk crates/those plastic crates DJ's carry
their 12" records in. To help hold door up/lay door on.
Hands. The more the merrier- GET HELP!!!!!
Hinges /pins are your friends- USE LUBE!!

When done ( or 5 mins after begining Lambo door
hinge installation....)
Bottle of 90 proof ______ OR (insert your poison).
