Hi All!

One of my '95 coupe's door speaker grills has been a bit damaged. It looks like perhaps something had been dropped on it. Its OK and doesn't make any noise, rattle, etc. but the carpet that covers it has completely come loose. I can't see anywhere where the plastic grill detaches - it looks like it is attached to the sill plate.

Do I have to remove the entire sill plate to get to that? How can I re-attached the carpet cover?

I looked at the other side door, and the carpet loks fine, but difficult to see how it attaches.

Do carpet sets include the sill carpet and speaker cover carpet?

Thanks, Bob

Guess I stumped all y'all on this one... :-(

I am trying to build up the courage to replace door panels on the 85, as mine are in bad shape do to the past owner being a bit rough on the interior.

Not In Door

The speakers in the '95 are not in the door, but seem to be a part of the lower door sill. That was the question: do I have to remove the sill to repair that rug cover over the speaker.

Also, do those carpet kits include carpet for the speaker grill?

Thanks, Bob

If I remember correctly, on my 92, the speaker covers came off with the sill cover.

Yes, the sill cover must come off in order to remove the speaker cover. I believe it is held on with 4 or 5 anchor nuts. If the carpet is not torn you should be able to remove the cover and re-tuck the carpet between the speaker cover and the sill. Otherwise you will need to find a way to glue it.

Thanks, Scott. Yes, I found a photo description somewhere on the net. But I think I may have to glue it anyhow - the cover plastic has been busted up a bit and so probably doesn't keep its shape enough to hold the carpet. The carpet itself seems to OK.

Thanks, Bob

Greetings,
I Am New To This Forum But, Not To Another Vette Forum I Belong To.

Question; I Am Having A Hell Of A Time Fastening/glueing The Carpet Section At The Top Where The Carpet Meets The Vinyl On The Door Panel. I Have An 88 And The Colors (although Does Not Matter Here) Is Exactly As Someone Has Posted Here. I Have Tried A Hot Glue Gun, Contact Cement, 3-m Spray Adhesive And No Dice. It Would Need To Set Up Almost Immediately As It Is Still Mounted On The Door Panel. Anyone With Any Ideas?

I replaced the carpeting on mine, turned out pretty good.

I reglued and clamped the upper part as well.

Check the link below it's got pics of the door panel before, during and after.
