Any good recommendations for tires that will grip. I currently have BFG Radial TAs on my car, 255/60/15 in back. I have no traction if i gun it. I am going to go with 50's in back. Any good recommendations for tires? How do the BFG Drag Radials Bite? Any good? I have been told Mickey Thompsons are great. Thanks!

I'd think that with a long-arm 383", the deep 1st gear of the 700R4, and 4.11 rear gears, if that thing does dead-hook, you might spit IRS parts into either lane!

Either BFG DRs, or M/T ET Streets are 'supposed' to be the hot set-up;
I prefer 'true' dragway-specials, and until I put a solid-axle into my '80, I won't even bother.

Fortunately, my '82 has a Cross-Fire, which doesn't make enough power to pull the skin off of a grape.....

i like the BFG Drags. they wear and bite better than the Mickies. have you tried airing the TA's down some?? i have the same tires on my car, and get pretty good traction, considdering. try 18-22 psi in the rear with what you have, if that doesn't help look at to the 275/50 Drags. Brian

yeah, i have tried 18 and 16lbs with no success. From a stop, i started slow then hit it for a 4.89 0-60mph. You KNOW your losing time when you gotta go slow for a few feet until you can hit it, even then i spin them so i can't do full throttle. I tried to do a 0-60 punching it, not using brake to use stall speed to potential. Yeah, big mistake, burned them, and went sideways for a 6.86 lol. Sheesh. Goes to show you about burnouts. They look nice, but man, do they kill you! I know if I can grip I can be VERY low 4's for 0-60mph. But hey, I can't even punch it, not to mention use stall speed as it stands... Grrr...

what are you running for a rear spring rate?? i have the VB&P perf plus set soft in the rear. i think it is 300 #'s/in right now. the rear squats hard and the weight transfer really helped with the hook-up. i have seen guys run stiff springs and they all have the trouble you are having. you can lower the rear ride height if you have a stiff spring rate, kind of a band-aid for a missing limb, but worth a try to see if you're getting enough weight transfer. Brian

Drag Tires...

I have great luck with the bfg drag radials,Like 1.60 60 ft times,hoosier quick time pros dont come close.I run stock 8 inch rally wheels.I think the size is 295/60/15,I'll check tonight.

Thanks. Hmm... not really sure my spring rate. I know I had them re-arched a year ago and only have like 1k miles on them.

P-275-60-15 is the size I run. They work and fit great! I do have the HD offset trailing arms though.I think they should fit with the stock arms also.
