drivebelt keeps jumping over the air pump pully wheel on 84 corvette

The drivebelt is new and looks as if it may be a little off checked it and put it on three or more times and it keeps riding over to the back side of the air pump whell . Please help if anyone has ever had tyhis problem.

Check for a cracked bracket. That's my bet.

I had a friend who kept losing belts until he discovered a hairline crack in one of the brackets. Replaced it and hasn't had the problem since.

Assuming belt tension is good, use a straight edge to see if your pullys are all in alignment. If they aren't figure out why not. Could be something broken, bent, assembled wrong or a wrong part.
