My driver side window in my 1980 L82 will not go up. I thought it might be the switch because I noticed when I pushed the driver side window switch down it put a draw on the battery (the volt meter went down), but when I pushed the switch up there was no draw. I replaced th switch, but the window still wont go up, and I still only get a draw when pushing the switch down. As far as I can tell the harness looks good. Anybody have any other ideas on what it could be? Please let me know, I need to wash my car but cant get the window up:W .
Thanks, 80VetteL82

I recently had an issue with my switch and had to get the window up. If you remove the door panel to get access to the motor you can unplug the harness from it and apply 12v to the terminals to check out the motor. If it's like mine, there are two wires, one for up, other for down. I used my battery charger for a voltage source, put the minus lead to the door frame and apply 12v+ to one terminal then the other. You can determine if the motor is OK or it's something from the harness plug back to the switch. If it turns out the motor is good at least you can get the window up until you get it diagnosed further.

Might be a good source for a window motor just in case.

Good luck

Push the switch up and wiggle the wires where they pass from the pillar to the door. they are known to break in this area. No draw suggests a broken wire or bad connection.

yah I was thinking a bad motor or broken wire too. It turned out to be a bad connection at the motor. Its all set for now.
