i have a 81 vette the drivers window only goes up half way i have changed out the motor and gears with no results any ideas thanks kel

You have to pre-load the spring. There is a 1/4 inch hole on the gear that lines up with another 1/4 inch hole on the regulator than you put the motor on. Did you do it that way? PG.

With the regulator out of the car and the window motor not yet installed you have to collapse the regulator about half way-you will see a hole in the gear side, when that hole lines up with the hole on the regulator part, you stick a 1/4 inch bolt in there. Then you put the motor on and remove the bolt. That gives you the correct pre-load. Then use a jumper on the motor to collapse the regulator so it fits back in the door. PG.
