Driving the B2K like it was designed ;)

Tonite, we went out to the local car cruise in spot and the pick tonite to take was, the B2K... My intention was to ensure everything was good to go for Aug & I hadn't driven her in a couple months so, tonite was the night

We had a great time and my daughter even brought out her car (to be like her daddy:love )

I had one fella come running up to the car as he recognized it from the Corvette Fever magazine article this past June - He rattled off specs and spoke volumes on the cars history - said he just knew it was the same one from CF :upthumbs

Well, when it was time to go... I fired up the B2K and noticed that the battery light was illuminated :(
I suppose with the high air temps combined with the underhood heat - it took one for the team...
Volts = 11.8 and dropping
Lights on, hammer down, I cut through the twisty roads to get home (I hate driving them at night as there are SO many deer back in there :eek)
My bride pulled up beside and asked how come I was hauling so fast - I let her know and she said she'd keep up (What a girl :D)
As the volts dropped 11.6, 11.4, then 11.1 the headlights were dimming as well... I was actually relying more on my wifes lights from behind me than the light mine put out.

Out of the woods, a red traffic light - made a right turn and a final blast (but still keeping outta boost) to home... Volts dropping - 10.8, 10.6, 10.8, 10.8 steady...
Made it home :)

I think Reeves would be proud at how spirited the car was driven - empty country road - lots of twisties
What an absolute blast:Steer

Thanks for letting me share. *89x2*

Sounds like your alternator took a dump...I just replaced mine a week and a half ago. Go to Autozone and get the lifetime one for $125 :beer

Sounds like you had fun, and it ain't gonna be a serious problem. Easy fix. :upthumbs

_ken :w

Same here about 1.5 years ago. Though in my case the battery light came on about 12 miles from home, then I got caught at a long light after exiting the expressway. The car died as I was backing into the Garage. Close Call.

Glad you made it home safely! While you are at it check the serpentine belt.

See ya soon!
