Awhile back I posted about my Dr's car. I found out for sure yesterday what it is. An E55 V8 KOMPRESSOR by AMG. He says he can out run an '04 Corvette. I don't know if he meant a Z06 but he did mean my car a 5.7L. Any thoughts and how strong is this car?

Thanks,
wwr

Yes it is true. It is quicker than your Vette. $80 grand does get him some bragging rights. On a road course my money is on your Vette. The new Z06 will eat its lunch. Also if you put a supercharger on your vette you'll take him too.

Besides, his car is still just a big ugly sedan. Who cares how fast it goes.

Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG Sedan
Mercedes says that the supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 in the E55 AMG is hand-assembled by a “master engine builder” who vouches for his work with a signature plate affixed to each of these 469-horsepower engines. So, if the owner of an E55 sedan can’t make the zip to 60 mph in the promised 4.5 seconds, he or she has someone to blame. But it’s more likely that people who can come up with the $81,920 it takes to buy one of these sedans ($83,320 for the wagon) don’t care as much about acceleration as they do about image and visual impact, which is supplied in abundance by all of the AMG-badged and -built special items that range from the substantial—eight-piston aluminum brake calipers with larger perforated rotors, and a suspension with specially developed struts, springs, and dampers—to the sublime: Black Birdseye maple-wood trim and comfortable, multicontour sport seats.

This is from Car and Driver. Sounds like a push to me, except the price.

The vette is a total package.

Braking, handling and acceleration.

The E55 is a kick @ss ride....and a locomotive in accleration...but braking and handling? Vettes gonna kick @ss!

Who Cares ! I don't give a rats butt about that "Over Priced Krout Krapp" even if were 6,000 hp. A Vette is tops all around and American Made. Nuff Said !!

Time to start modding your car and put the Dr. in his place.:L:L:L

The car may be hot, but it doesn't look like it. A lot of cars have four chrome tail pipe extensions and that doesn't impress.

The horsepower and torgue stats are impressive but I wonder just how controllable that car is under full power.

I out accelerated one above 140 MPH on the Italian Autostrada not long ago. It wasn't an easy task. I had a chance to do a couple of stop lights from behind the AMG E55 coupe in town, but it wasn't a real test of performance. I do know he was surprised that he didn't leave me in his dust which he probably does to most other cars. They turn the quarter in mid 12s at 115 MPH...don't take them for granted.

Just run him. The proof is in the pudding. If he wins, you both have a good time and you get to see the competion first hand. If you win, he feels like he over paid for his car and he can't make that comparison anymore.

Tell him .....

Lets take it to a race course and smile.

Racing should be done at the track so its safer....and besides you'll kill him.

That supercharged MB might accelerate but you'll kill him with your TOTAL package of acceleration, handling and braking.

If it were me? I'd laugh as I tell him to set the date and location and leave it at that.

If he sets the date go kick his @ss at the road course track.

IMO never too bright to race on the streets and highway pulls are bs.
