Hello,
My name is Tony. I have a question about the air conditioner on my 97 couple. This is the second time I have had this problem. When I turn the air on, the passenger side blows at the desired temparture, but the driver side blows warm air. The driver side only blows cold when I reduce the temparture down to 60 degrees. The last time it happen, the shop said something about an actuator being faulty. Is this something I can replace myself or something I need to take back to the shop? The last repair was over a year ago, so it's not under warranty.

HI there,
I would suggest that you remove the #27 mini fuse from the under toe board fuse block. Then, reinstall in about 3 mins.
Start the car, and turn the temp controls full hot.
Let us know how you make out, c4c5:hb

c4c5specialist,
I tried disconnecting the fuse #27, with no luck. It does the same thing. I also tried it with fuse #24 because on my fuse panel, #24 is A/C and #27 is a spare.
I also left both disconnected and ran the A/C. I noticed that the passenger side now blows plain air, but the driver side blows warmer air, maybe 10 to 15 degrees warmer. So I'm wondering if maybe it's not a problem with the A/C but with something causing the driver side to blow warm air all the time when the environmental controls are on.

Yes, I ran the codes and there is a "B0361 - Left Actuator Feedback Short to Ground" under HVAC. I'm assuming this means there is a short in the left actuator. Where do I find the actuator?

Hi there,
Please reference the attached diagram.
#2 is your actuator for the passenger side. On the other side of the case, is the drivers one.
Now, depending on how flexible you are, you MAY be able to get to this by sneaking under the drivers side dash, and reaching up to the edge of the heater case. Otherwise, you will have to remove the dash pad in order to get to it.
Allthebest, c4c5:hb

I know this is an old thread, but I am having the same issue on my Dad's 1998. Is this common? I did a search but this thread is really all I found.

I'm getting ready to take the head unit out to re-solder the display anyway, so if there is something I can do while in there it would be great!

If it matters this just started happening, and it might be a coincidence but I just put a new battery in.
