Got some questions..

I think I have a bad dual mass FW, cause I have a "ticking" sound from the clutch area during hard brake and hard turns. ANd ONLY when the car gets hot.
When I brake hard (or turn hards ) and then push in the clutch a little bit , just about 5mm the sound dissaper..
I have heard that bad dual mass FW can make som "rod knock" sounds, mayby this is it?
Or could it be a bad slave cylider? When I took the clutch down I noticed the slave cylinder "pin" is loose in the cylinder, shoul it be that? I also tried to go reverse fast and then brake hard, then I DONT get the "tick" sound.

The sound is constant , and does not follow rpm. Its just on/off.

ohh and can u use a FW from a 95 vette on a 91 vette?

Go to Lukclutch.com and to the contact us area and fill out the information. They made the flywheels and can tell you anything you need to know about your problem. Typically a new DMF will have 5/8" of play between the two plates. A worn flywheel will have an inch or more play between the two plates. Even if your DMF has less than an inch of play, it could still be worn due to failure of the internal parts. You can not disassemble the flywheel, however, to inspect the springs and friction surface. Mine had a bad slave cylinder as well and I replaced it and still had the same ticking problem. As for whether the dmf is the same on a 95 vette or on a 91 Vette I'd ask luk whether it is a diret swap, but Corvette Central sells the Dual Mass flywheels and they say that they will fit 89-96 Corvettes and I don't think the flywheel changed over the years because the reason for the dmf was because of the zf trans' large input shaft that would make what is known as a "rocks in a can" noise with a standard clutch and flywheel setup. Oh and another sign of dmf failure is vibration. My engine would idle rough as a result of the problem and sometimes shake bad enough to vibrate the doors when they opened. Hope that helps.
