I spent the last week installing Dynamat Xtreme. I bought a package of 36 square feet for about $98 plus another $36 shipping and when UPS delivered it another $86 taxes and delivery again.
I found 36 square feet not quit enough for the interior and nothing for the doors.
I am installing new floor mats and want to get the rear installed so I can bolt in the back half of the cage. The cage is done, powdercoated black and just waiting to go in.
I need another 4 sheets of dynamat in 18 x 32 inches, 3 for the doors and one for the councel.
It total about 50 square feet is needed to cover everything except the Tee roof. I might even get another sheet and do them.
I am really trying to quiet the car down. I hate noise but refuse to give up my 3 inch exhaust.
This is the interior nearly finished. I have to wait until Monday to get more sheets.
You can also see the stero mounted here. I use a remote and bounce it off the windshield.
It is alot of work, takes at least a 1/2 hour per sheet and you have to really roll it out, I used a small plastic hammer and worked every inch of it working out all air pockets, making sure the edge and every other square inch is down so it works properly and sticks.
It is nice stuff to work with and you just peel the brown paper off the back and install, It sticks really well.

Hi Norval,

Your project looks like it is really coming along. As always, your explanations and photo details are very informative. Keep on giving us all updates.

I will be very interested to hear your opinions on how quiet it will be in the car after this.

Since the Dynamat is so expensive, have you looked into this Canadian alternative?

They are in Sask. This should cut down on your Courrier / Customs costs. They appear to have a decent product too. I have not used this product, this is only a suggestion.

BTW have you sent your cage out for powdercoating yet? Can't wait to see it all back together.

Take care,
Brian

My cage is back from the powder coaters and is sitting in the shop waiting for me to install the new carpet before the cage can be installed. I started the carpet today but it is another fiddly job that I have to take my time doing. The rear fenderwells are the worst, but the interior must be reinstalled before the cage.
I am anxious to install it but have to be patient and do the other jobs first.
My son has a no name brand that looks and feels just like my dynamat and I need 4 more sheets to finish it the way I want. His is probably alot cheaper.
Thanks for the link. I will look into it

It may work, but for that amount of money, it freaking BETTER.....those prices are WAY out of line for anything close to that kind of product.....

I used a type of roof flashing; it looks identical to the Dynomat, except underneat the reflective coating, it has about 1/4" of a soft sticky tar like substance. The viscous material is the best for absorbing vibration. And once this stuff is placed down, it's there for good--though I'm sure a heat gun would be a great help in removing it. It is $4.95 for a 6" x 30' roll. I cut it into 6"x6" squares and covered every inch of the interior. Lowes carries it.

Thanks photovette, I need more for the doors and will give that a try. If I see the stuff I will know if it is the same or similiar to dynamat.
I would like a sound absorber over the dynamat. It would also make the carpets softer under the feet.
I did glue the rear fender carpets down and most of the rear deck carpet.

Lookin' good! :upthumbs
Thanks Ken but looks even better today. Installed most of the carpets which will allow me to but the trim back on, which will allow me to install the new cage, which is what I really want to do.
