I've seen this type of glass T-Top around and I've heard that this is an early glass T-Top and also conversely that it is an early aftermarket type T-Top. I am thinking of buying a pair for my '77 because I think they look better on the cars with the flat back glass; maintains the lines. Anybody know the real history behind these?

I recall them to be the Astro top-- aftermarket in the mid/late 70's. There were one piece and two-piece versions that seemed to fade from preference when the mirrored factory tops came out on the Anniversary/Pacers in 78. You can still find them on E-Bay and I recall an earlier posting of a company that rebuilds them.
I always thought they were cool because of the additional body color, but never bought them... we had mirrored tops on our Silver Anniv... here in AZ, we just leave the tops off !

Moon Roofs

If these are what you are talking about I have a pair that I use on my 76 from time to time. I bought them in 1977 from a Chevrolet dealer and they were called Moon Roofs. They might be made by Astro Tops for Chevrolet and they even use the same GM "T" top weatherstrip and all the hardware is GM. They do have a unique look but the car can get hot inside with them on in the summer months. The quality by the way is excellant!!
I found this article at http://www.tracyvette.com/topsglass.html
C3 coupe aftermarket Moon Roofs were originally designed to go on 1977 Corvettes as an GM option that never made to to the option list. They were offered as an optional aftermarket item and are distinguished by a painted fiberglass border surrounding the glass inset. They were made in several combinations with 1 or 2 clamps to fit both styles of C3 Corvette roofs. They were originally offered with dark, silver, bronze, gold, and rose tints.

I'm bidding on some right now--I don't worry about the heat; the a/c in my '77 works so well now I'm having to turn the fan to 'lo' and turn the heat up a little (even when there's no women in the car).

Thanks for the info!
