pop off your hood liner get some rustolum spray the whole thing also get model paint I found it works best. heres what mine looked like when I was done I was a little itchy but it went away...

hey c5 chick,
looks good,i keep telling myself to do it,but there is so many other things to do also, maybe if i take it off,i will be forced to paint it.i was thinking of having flames run across the bottom edge.good job, later,Todd.

ty

It was VERY easy to do and its nice to pop the hood and seeing the flag painted you can get it custom done but i like doing things myself Its nicer when people ask ya about things and you can say "I DID THAT!!!" :) I also have a 1997 yr badge up there on the hood that just finished it off right .

hey c5 chick,
if i did do this, you may never notice it since ive painted my intake red, upper radiator cover red,red wire looms everywhere,my halltech intake and polishing all the aluminum you can see, people stair at it a lot.:D is that the first mod you did yourself?if so you might soon be hearing yourself say,"im C5 Chick- and im a mod-aholic;) i know i am,later,Todd.

no man

Im a freak lol i need MA Modiaholic Anonymous. added K&N air flow cut out the intake box did the exshaust. did some interior stuff as well. At the moment Im modding out my Truck When I bought it it was john deere green so planning on painting my rims yellow and doing the same to the motor green block with yellow wires. And I need a Dixie Horn yet on it :)
My MONSTER :) I need to get another job so I can buy some more stuff..

sounds like you got a plan there,i almost thought about modding my saturn, its the only car that ive owned and never lowered, but it gets me to work and gets my german shepard to the vette, the shepard goes in the vette once in a while.he was with me last week when i raced a mustang, story is in the kill section titled'not again'.later,Todd.

way cool, c5_chick:_rock . i think i'd like to do that sometime. did you buy model paint and use a brush? has any of it peeled off from engine heat?

I have seen this in several magazines and on a few cars at a car show. I think it is a great idea. I painted mine( '99) one Saturday afternoon. Just removed the clips holding the liner to the hood and used the same paint scheme as in your photo.
It may not look perfect, but it is great when you raise the hood!

this is what i used

Testors model paint , many small and different sized brushes , and sat in living room with a nice picture of the C5's badge :) . And I did it last summer and hasnt fadded at all.

Can I ask, why the rustolum? Is it sort of a base coat or sealer on the liner first?

ok

it gave it a clean surface to paint the model paint on I guess you dont have to use it but where I got the instrutions from said to use it so I did. I guess It was for if you had any faded spots on your liner ? not sure I did find this idea at www.97vette.com they might have a better reason there.

Thanks for the link. Turns out I have been there before, that 97 looks just like my 97.
I made up a set of the jack stand pads he has there and I must admit I like them too.
