EBAY buy or not to buy hypertech power programmer

i've been checking out EBAY corvette section and have found from time to time used hyper tech prower programmers units for my 94 C4 at very reasonable prices ($75-150 instead of the $350) is this a good deal? can it harm my present OEM CPU? in other words are their damgers buying a used power programmer?has anybody had any experences buying a used power programmer?

You have to make sure that they return the power programing back to the programmer. Meaning, it will only do one VIN number at a time. You have to uninstall the Hypertech programming to be able to use it on another car.

If your doing a lot of mods, you'll want to do custom tuning instead of the Hypertech. I wouldn't pay more then $150, thats what I got mine for used.

My feelings exactly, having actually "been there and done that". A VERY expensive gadget for what little it actually does for you. Now if the "performance enhancement" part of it actually WORKED, it might be worth it.
But since it doesn't...........

I haven't dynoed it but my "seat of the pants" feel is that the programmer and 160 thermostat definitely woke my LT1 up. The thermostat was installed immediately before the unit hookup. I got the gadget used on eBay for 170 bucks. It was worth that to get rid of the rev limiter and firm up the auto trans shift points. Everything else was pure bonus as far as I'm concerned. If the programmer is tuned back to Hypertech original, count me as a"yes" vote
