Edelbrock Performance Package Question

I'm thinking of buying the #2098 or any of the other Top End Power Package from Edelbrock for my Vette. I have a 75 with the L-48 Fred Flintstone pedal powered V8 165 hp engine with 8:5 to 1 compression. Have any of you used this package your L-48? If so are you happy with it? Thanks. It should work great. You will definitely have to get rid of your single exhaust and install a set of duals to get the HP you want out of it. You may have some hood clearance issues with that Air-Gap manifold. The 2099 kit looks good with the roller cam(although it doesn't show the cam specs). I just finished a top end rebuild this year and was very happy with the results.

Dual exhaust may help, no doubt, but an L48 will never run well with an "air gap intake manifold.

What it needs is exactly what the OP is considering, the Performer manifold/cam package and the Performer cylinder head. That with a stock, but recalibrated carb, will all fit under the stock hood. With the duals, and proper tuning, I'd look for a 35 hp increase.

To use a Performer RPM Air Gap, the engine would need:
higher compression
a lot more camshaft
Performer RPM heads
Forged pistons

And, the car would, as suggested earlier, need a different hood.

Interestingly, Hot Rod Magazine recently published an article about a comparison they did between an air-gap and standard RPM intake and found minimal difference in performance (HP). Their recommendation was, for the $$, go with the RPM. That will also help you fit it under the hood.
