Anyone switch to an electric fan setup? I'm thinking of the dual fan conversion for my '79,but is there a recommended CFM I should look for? Flex-A-lite makes a nice product & they come in 4 colors! I suppose I should be more concerned with maximum amounts of air flow if I've done major engine mods, but thats not the case.So far I have a cam change,& in the future, manifold & carb changes along with headers.Thats probly going to be the extent of it.Otherwise I might go crate engine, but thats a long way off..

The Flex-a-lite 210 is the largest fan they sell that'll fit in a C3--they have a larger one that they say will fit but it won't--trust me!

I have a 355/375ph motor with a/c and the electric fans work fine. However, I also have a new 4-core radiator ('76 and earlier size) and an Edelbrock water pump. If you don't have a/c, no problem. If you do, make sure everything else is in top shape otherwise you'll overheat. When it gets warmer that is!

I have AC thats currently disconnected,& dont see why I need to connect it in Washington-temps rarely get above 85* and the "hot" weather only lasts 3-4 months-and I have T-Tops! I dont think my '79 is a 4 core either?

i also have the dual flexalites and they work great,my air is disconnected.Fits perfect and easy to install.

Pat,what'd you paint the headers with? I think my ceramic ones would look good red!

you mean the runners on the tpi?i used regular paint then used high heat clear over them.i even painted the block and intake electronblue then high heat cleared them also, never changed color yet.The regular headers are just high heat black, that never last, maybe thinking about ceramic coated ones after im done my flares this spring.I have either the 210 or the 230 i forget.

I have the flex duals on my 73 383 with air and have had no problems with it

Yeah, looks good! I guess I still need high heat coating to color ceramics too?

Heres a pic of my dual Spal fans. Kind of expensive, but they bolted right in & the wiring harness was easy to install also.

I have an 81, and it already has an electric fan (I guess a secondary one), plus the belt driven clutch type. Would these electric fans replace both or just the belt driven one? I guessing the latter is correct. Thanks!

Provided that the electric fans can move enough air to properly cool the engine, then the belt driven mechanical fan is not needed anymore. The fans that I have I believe move about 2700 cfm. I ditched the mechanical fan, so much more room up front without it. Also the electrics free up some hp when they are not running.

Another one running flex-a-lite dual 12" fans. I have no problems with them and my 400+hp 383 in the Dallas heat. I also have a 1 1/4" row Griffen Al radiator, but no A/C.

With that said, I hear that the Spal fans move more air and cost more.

Yeah,I think for what I'm runnin' now,the Flex's are fine. That may change much later on

To cool my '95 LT1 I used a dual fan set up from a '95 Z28 Camaro. I had to modify the fan frames.
