Someone mentioned on one of the CAC boards once that an '82 vette had an electric fan from the factory. Anybody here know if that is the case? I've never had the opportunity to look under the hood on any later C3's. I'm looking to do an electric fan upgrade and thought I'd consider it if there was one made for a late C3.

thanks

Some of the later C3's had this auxillary electric fans in addition to the clutch fan. It was set to come on with the a/c and at a very high temperature. This would not be a substitute for the clutch fan.

80 L82's have them, I believe 81 with Automatic's have them (according to a restoration book I have). I have a 4 spd and it doesn't have one-but that doesn't mean one wasn't there in the past.

81/82 fans

Thanks a bunch folks ! Thanks for that link Bud !
Anyone got a pic of the fans or are they too buried to see anyway?
thanks

not alot to see with them. the auxillary fan was tucked inside the fan shroud. i'd take a pic of mine, but its long gone.

The electric fan on the '82 is on the left side of the radiator, and attaches inside the shroud with a bracket. I've never heard mine running unless it's really hot out and idling for a long time. The clutch fan does a pretty good job keeping it cool, and the electric fan doesn't seem to make that much difference.
