...for a 1988 Corvette Coupe. Does anyone know where I can find some? The problem is that everytime I charge the battery it dies after two days. I've replaced the battery 3 times in 12 months and the alternator twice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have the factory manuals for the 87. I don't know how close to the sane they might be. I don't have a scanner, but I do have a decent digital camera. If someone could chime in here and say the word, I'd try to get photo's and e-mail them to you. Best I can do. Let me know if I can help.:beer Someone will come along who can help :upthumbs Be patient. Welcome to :CAC

I've got the factory manuals for an 86, and a scanner, but also don't know how close they are. Wondering, though, if you need the schematics at this point - they're practically incomprehensible even when you DO know what you're looking for.

Were it me looking for a drain, I'd start with some of the more common problems. Disconnect the underhood lights and make sure the center console light turns off when the lid's shut - these circuits both use mercury switches that can fail in the on or off position, and the light they shed isn't easy to spot when closed.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm or stereo?

OKAY......

....first of all thanks for the input. Second...I believe I found it. Using a DVM and a procedure I read about in the archives that worked extremely well - I narrowed it down to the "L.C.D." circuit (or speedometer cluster). All other circuits are drawing zero amps when checked. The speedometer cluster is drawing .21 amps when everything else is shut off. The factory manuals say that an acceptable amp draw from the battery when everything is shut down is approx. .035 amps. Anything above that is suspected to be shorted somewhere. So - if anyone can narrow some schematics down to the speedometer cluster or if anyone has an idea of what it might be in the cluster, please let me know. Thanks again folks!

THis is what I found in the 92 book

I have a 92 shop manual. I am guessing on how you isolated the problem. My guess is you pulled all your fuses and reinstalled them until you saw current draw thru a current meter. I looked in my book and the LCD is connected to a 5 amp fuse. This fuse also drives the Tone Generator pins A, Central Control Module "CCM" pins F1 and F2, and the Instrument Cluster pins B5 and B13. In all cases the wire is Orange. Good Luck I hoped this helps

I've got the schematics for an 88 and have scanned them for you. I'll send you an email with them.
